Abstract
An unusual product, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10, 11, 11-dodecachloro-1, 4, 4a, 5a, 6, 9, 9a, 9b-octahydro-1, 4, 6, 9-dimethanodibenzofuran, as an i mpurity in minor quantity has been isolated from technical endosulfan and i ts structure was determined by spectroscopic data(IR, H-1 and C-13 NMR and Mass) and finally confirmed by synthesis. The route for the formation of th is compound is also discussed.
