Abstract
Resonance Raman scattering from 1 and 2 LO phonons is investigated from Cd1 -xZnxS nanoparticles dispersed in oxide glass before and after annealing. T he resonance profiles are found to exhibit asymmetry which is attributed to the interference effects arising from a nonresonant contribution to the po larizability. The energies of the resonances are found to be consistent wit h the direct interband transition energies estimated from the reported opti cal data. (C) 2000 American Institute of Physics.
