Abstract
In this paper, we proposes a new control technique for reducing the vibrati on of a flexible space structure arranged in series, such as a pair of sola r paddles of the space station. In this study, the reduced order model for controlling the first and the second bending modes of the structure is deri ved. For designing the controller, the filtered Linear Quadratic Optimum co ntrol theory (LQ control theory) is used. The reduced order model and the c ontroller design are verified by simulations and experiments.
