Abstract
Furnace anneals of TIBa2CaCu2Ox thin films at temperatures above 500 d egrees C cause partial TIOx loss. High-resolution transmission electro n microscopy images reveal nanometer-scale discontinuities (pinched st acking faults) in the microstructure of annealed films. Significant in creases in the vortex pinning potential and critical current density a t elevated temperatures in strong magnetic fields are observed and are attributed to the presence of these localized defects.
