Abstract
A meeting of the Technical Economic Council of the Department of Economics of the Metallurgical Industry was held at the end of March 2000, The meetin g, chaired by department head A. Z, Shevtsov, examined two issues: modern e lectrometallurgy and the Russian-made 100-ton electric-are furnace, which r epresents a new generation of furnaces; the creation of the noncommercial p artnership "Union of Electrometallurgists."
