A high energy x-ray diffraction (HEXRD) measurement has been performed on v
itreous boron trioxide (B2O3) at 40.9 keV, using a bending magnet beamline
at SPring-8. An accurate structure factor S(Q), for vitreous B2O3, in the Q
range 0.6-24.2 Angstrom (-1), is obtained with very low systematic correct
ions. We apply the reverse Monte Carlo (RMC) modelling technique, using bot
h the HEXRD and the published neutron diffraction data. On the basis of the
RMC model, we discuss the validity of the boroxol ring model of vitreous B
2O3.
