Co-composting of municipal solid waste, manures, and sugar cane waste using a static pile system

Composting trials were carried out from January to June in 1997 and 1998 us ing municipal solid waste, sludge from sugar cane production, manure, chick en manure, sawdust and yeast as an additive. The selected technology was a simple static pile method to ensure that capital and operating costs were l ow. The results of the experiments showed that the waste streams co-compost ed well to produce an acceptable product.
