This article presents the results of a study on the formation of " fish-eye
s " detects provoked by a high concentration of hydrogen in the metal and t
riggered on non-metallic inclusions, in low alloy steels of the type A508.3
and 18MND5. The role of various parameters on the formation of fish eyes w
as studied, notably the tensile test temperature, the deformation speed, th
e three-axiality of stresses, the orientation of test bars and the type of
half-product. The results obtained make it possible to specify the mechanis
m and the characteristics of fish-eye formation.
