We report a case of a 35-years-old patient admitted for a bronchectasis inf
ection with severe hypoxaemia and amoxicillin-clavulanic acid resistance. T
he issue was favorable with a larger antibiotherapy. Culture of bronchial s
ecretions obtained by fiberoptic bronchoscopy revealed Bordetella bronchise
ptica. Bordetella bronchiseptica is a Gram-negative coccobacillus known to
cause respiratory tracts infections in domestic and laboratory animals. Hum
an infection is rare and is usually associated with severe underlying disea
se and contact with an animal reservoir In the human respiratory tract, Bor
detella bronchiseptica causes cough, bronchitis or pneumonia. Adequate anti
biotic therapy is usually efficient, but lethal forms have been described.
