Abstract
Inelastic neutron scattering measurements on the complexes [Cu4OCl6L4] (L = pyridine or dimethyl sulfoxide) revealed ground-state zero-field splittings of ca. 3 and 6 cm(-1). The splittings are interpreted as d ue to the combined effects of exchange and spin-orbit coupling, and su ggest a new interpretation of previous magnetic data.
