Abstract
Palladium-catalyzed cyclization of N,N-bis(p-tolylsulfonyl)-o-phenylenediam ine 2b and 2-[(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)sulfonyl] aminophenol 2c with three al lylic biscarbonates 1a-c gave quite different enantioselectivities. This in dicates that the cyclization processes do not have a common intermediate, a s in the case of benzene-1,2-diol. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All right s reserved.
