M. Sporrle et U. Rudolph, What is your occupation? Evaluative approach and word norms for terms of occupation in German, Z EXP PSYCH, 47(4), 2000, pp. 297-307
Terms of occupation are often used in psychological research to refer to st
imulus persons. The first comprehensive study for the German language is pr
esented, in which 95 German commonly used terms of occupation are evaluated
concerning a number of variables discussed in the literature, specifically
perceptions of sympathy, prestige, typicality, positivity, negativity and
ambivalence. As a consequence, it will be possible to balance terms of occu
pation in future research.
