Te. Grechanichenko et Na. Guseva, Specific features of carabid populations (Coleoptera, Carabidae) in forestbiotopes of central forest-steppe, ZOOL ZH, 79(5), 2000, pp. 548-555
Carabid communities were studied in an oak forest and forest glade. Complex
es of carabids differ in species composition, biotopical preferendum, and s
pectrum of life forms. The share of forest-steppe and field species increas
es in the forest glade. The forest is dominated by Pterostichus oblongopunc
tatus, Agonum assimile, and P. melanarius; glades by Poecilus versicolor, P
. melanarius, and Carabus excellens. The average activity of Carabidae in t
he forest was 1.4 times higher than in the glade. In late summer - early au
tumn some carabids migrate from forest to glade.
