Low level doping (less than or equal to 1 atomic %) of Ag in Bi2Sr2CaC
u2O8+d was performed via freeze-drying of nitrate solutions. Effects o
f Ag doping on the c-axis lattice parameter, oxygen content and critic
al temperature were monitored. Powder-in-tube tapes were fabricated us
ing both Ag-doped and undoped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+d powders. Tapes were proc
essed using a partial melt heat treatment in flowing oxygen. The effec
ts of Ag doping on the critical current and microstructure were invest
igated, specifically the Ag-Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+d interface region.
