Spectrum of the infinite-dimensional Laplacian

We prove that the spectrum of the infinite-dimensional Laplacian is the lef t half plane {A is an element of C : Re lambda less than or equal to 0}. As a consequence, we obtain a simple proof of the norm discontinuity of the g enerated semigroup.
