The genome projects represent one of the most important developments in our
knowledge of parasites. However, translation of this knowledge into an und
erstanding of parasite biology and then on to drugs, vaccines and other hea
lthcare developments for the diseases will need some Clan and clarity of th
ought by scientists and funding organizations. Only then will the activity
associated with post-genomics be turned from what I have termed 'genome bab
ble' to real opportunities in understanding these parasites.
