We report measurements of convective heat transfer in gases (air, O-2,
N2O and freon-22), liquids (kerosene, silicon oil and distilled water
) and a colloidal suspension (hematite (alpha-Fe2O3) in distilled wate
r) under the influence of electric, magnetic and electromagnetic field
s. The corresponding heat transfer coefficients indicate a complicated
development of heat convections which appeal to be strongly interacti
ng. A quantitative interpretation of the results is furnished using di
mensional analysis.
