Abstract
A variety of alpha,beta -unsaturated esters and cyclic ketones underwent sm ooth reduction of the carbon-carbon double bond with a combination of inexp ensive and readily available trichlorosilane and CoCl2. The reactions are p erformed under very mild conditions and products are obtained in high yield s.
