New chemistry lecturer at the FHBB

At the beginning of 2000 Uwe Pieles took up the position as lecturer for ch emistry at the University of Applied Sciences in Muttenz (FHBB), Besides te aching and the supervision of students, his main responsibility is the impl ementation of a nanotechnology project that focuses on the investigation an d chemical modification of surfaces, Dr. Pieles completed his university ed ucation at the Universities of Bielefeld and Gottingen and the Max Planck I nstitute for Experimental Medicine, This was followed by a postdoctoral fel lowship at the EMBL in Heidelberg, He then worked in industry at Ciba Geigy in Basel and BYK Gulden in Konstanz where he was responsible for developin g various nucleic acid analysis techniques.
