Application of organic electroluminescent materials in visualisation

Organic semiconductors have now proven their ability to be incorporated as the active layer in a light emitting diode. We report here on the status of emerging materials (both evaporated molecules and polymers), then we consi der colour patterning and addressing issues. Finally, we describe the first commercial OLED displays and we review the different demonstrators which h ave been disclosed so far.
