We show first results and systematic investigations of a matter wave interf
erometer with the K-2 molecule, using a transition between the electronic g
round state X (1)Sigma (+)(g) and the state b (3)Pi>(*) over bar * (0(u)(+)
). This spin forbidden transition is observable due to spin-orbit coupling
between the states b and A (1)Sigma (+)(u). The experimental results are co
mpared with numerical simulations, which show the power of the interferomet
er to observe small phase shifts by weak interactions.
