Abstract
Double variational principles are established for eigenvalues of a (norm) c ontinuous self-adjoint operator valued function L defined on a real interva l [alpha, beta[. L(lambda) is not required to be definite for any lambda. A pplications are made to linear, quadratic and rational functions L.
