Abstract
This paper describes the authors' experience in using the US EPA Gaussian m
odels in making environmental impact statements which focus on four differe
nt fields: highways, quarries, an airport and tunnels. The main problems en
countered are the uncertainties in the emission factors, the lack of accoun
ting of the complex terrain effects and the fact that the Israeli Standards
relate to total NOx concentration rather than NO2.
