For long incident pulses, measurement of two-photon absorption coefficients
can be complicated by excited-state absorption. We develop here a quantita
tive ab initio model to determine the contribution of excited-state absorpt
ion in the interpretation of the two-photon absorption data for such materi
als. We present representative calculations of this effect for some selecte
