A comparative study of enzymatically and photochemically polymerized artificial lignin supramolecular structures using environmental scanning electron microscopy
M. Micic et al., A comparative study of enzymatically and photochemically polymerized artificial lignin supramolecular structures using environmental scanning electron microscopy, J COLL I SC, 231(1), 2000, pp. 190-194
Environmental scanning electron microscopy images of the self-assembled str
uctures of enzymatically (DHP) and photochemically polymerized (PCP) artifi
cial lignin are herein presented. Differences in the structural organizatio
n between DHP and PCP polymer at the supramolecular level were reported. Ba
sed on topological information, we proposed a hypothesis about possible new
physiological roles of lignin in live plant cells and the ecological signi
ficance of possible in-vivo photochemical lignin polymerization. (C) 2000 A
