Angle-resolved electron energy-loss spectra for the nitrous oxide (N2O) mol
ecule have been measured at an impact energy of 1 keV. The spectra cover an
excitation energy range from 0 to 50 eV and an angular range from 1.5 degr
ees to 10.0 degrees. The absolute inelastic differential cross section and
the generalized oscillator strength (GOS) for the D (1)Sigma (+) <-- X (1)<
Sigma>(+) transition (9.6 eV) were determined in the 0.05-2.22 au K-2 range
. The absolute elastic differential cross section was also determined spann
ing an angular range from 1.5 degrees to 15.5 degrees.
