Mycotic aortic aneurysm, which resulted from infected pancreatic pseudocyst
s with retroperitoneal abscess, developed in a patient with chronic pancrea
titis. The aorta tvas approached through median laparotomy. Necrotic materi
al was debrided from the pancreatic pseudocysts, and the mycotic aneurysm w
as resected. The aorta was replaced in situ with a cryopreserved aortic all
ograft. This report discusses the rare complication of pancreatic pseudocys
ts, which affect the infrarenal abdominal aorta and cause a large mycotic a
neurysm. This case suggests that the use of cryopreserved allografts is pro
mising for in situ reconstruction, even in a grossly infected field.
