H. Yamazaki et al., Synthesis of polyurethane/polydimethylsiloxane graft copolymer by using macromonomer with a diol terminal group, KOBUNSH RON, 57(10), 2000, pp. 685-690
2,2'-Di(hydroxymethyl)butoxypropyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (DHMBP-P
DMS) was prepared as a new condensation type macromonomer with a diol termi
nal group for the synthesis of graft copolymer. In order to prepare DHMBP-P
DMS, we investigated the synthetic route via hydrosilylation of 1-allyloxy-
2,2'-di-(benzyloxymethyl)butane (ABMB) with hydrosilyl-terminated polydimet
hylsiloxane (H-PDMS), followed by reductive elimination of the two benzyl g
roups of 2,2'-di (benzyloxymethyl) butoxypropyl-terminated polydimethylsilo
xane (DBMBP-PDMS). Then, polyurethane/polydimethylsiloxane (PU/PDMS) graft
copolymers with different compositions were obtained by polyaddition of DHM
BP-PDMS with p-xylylene glycol (XG) and 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate(D
PMDI). The PU/PDMS graft copolymers were soluble in aprotic polar solvents
such as DMF, DMAc DMSO and NMP, and insoluble in ordinary organic solvents
such as acetone, THF, chloroform and dichloromethane.
