This is the first discovery in South Tunisia of a diversified Bathonian flo
ra from the Tataouine area. The plants are known as imprints without cuticl
es and as permineralized axes of ferns (Cladophlebis sp. Onychiopsis tenuil
oba, Coniopteris simplex, Piazopteris branneri, Alstaettia sp.) and conifer
s (Cypressinocladus soltanensis n. sp., Metapodocarpoxylon libanoticum and
Agathoxylon sp.). Comparisons are made with others floras from the peri-Tet
hys area. Palaeoecological conclusions are drawn from taphonomic observatio
ns.
