Abstract
The static dipole, quadrupole, and octupole polarizabilities of helium are calculated for the four Rydberg series 1 sns S-1, 1 sns S-3, 1 snp P-1, and 1 snp P-3 with n up to 10, using variational wave functions in Hylleraas c oordinates. The large-n expansions for polarizabilities are presented for t hese series.
