The experimentally observed damping of magnetic oscillations in superconduc
tors below B-c2 is qualitatively explained by application of the Lifshitz-K
osevich formula with the superconducting gap playing the role of the self-e
nergy. In two dimensions this formula omits a leading order term proportion
al to oscillations of the self-energy. We apply a recently proposed formali
sm to derive the magnetization oscillation amplitude of two-dimensional sup
erconductors in the (mixed) superconducting state. We find a significant co
rrection to the LK formula, which leads to a sign reversal of the oscillati
ons below B-c2.
