Abstract
We have succeeded in growing an epitaxial film on a quasicrystal. Au-deposi tions on a quasiperiodic surface of a decagonal Al-Ni-Co quasicrystal gave rise to an epitaxial film with a tenfold symmetry, i.e., a layer of multipl y twinned AuAl2 crystals with (110)-oriented surfaces and azimuthal orienta tions corresponding to the tenfold symmetry of the substrate.
