Abstract
The cytotoxic and antibacterial activity of an ethanol extract of leaves of a herbal drug, boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum), was investigated. The ext ract showed potent cytotoxicity with EC50 values (12-14 mug/mL) comparable to a standard cytotoxic agent, chlorambucil. The extract showed a weak anti bacterial activity against gram-positive test organisms (Staphylococcus aur eus and Bacillus megaterium). Copyright (C) 2000 John Whey & Sons, Ltd.
