Sv. Bushin et al., Conformational properties and equilibrium rigidity of poly(ester imide) molecules with m-phenylenediamine fragments in the imide groups, POLYM SCI B, 42(9-10), 2000, pp. 236-238
The flotation and translational diffusion coefficients of the fractions of
poly(ester imide) containing an m-phenylenediamine residue in the imide fra
gment of the chain were measured in dilute tetrachloroethane solutions. The
molecular mass of the fractions varied in the (8.8-117) x 10(3) range. The
Kuhn segment length of the macromolecules (A = 57.7 x 10(-8) cm) was estim
ated with regard to the effects of molecular percolation (draining) and vol
ume swelling (the thermodynamic parameter of volume swelling is epsilon = 0
.046), The ester imide fragments of the polymer molecules behave as rigid c
hain elements alternating with flexible aliphatic fragments of the molecule
