The machiavellianism: The psychological personal trait and the method of research

The psychological essence of the personal machiavellianism is described. Th e Russian version of the Mac-IV With the results of the scale adaptation on 710 Ss from six cities of the country are presented. The correlation betwe en personal machiavellianism and such traits as suspiciousness, hostility, negativism, orientation on the Self in communication, low level of altruism and negative self-assessment of moral qualities. It was shown the Ss with high level of machiavellianism have better manipulative skills, capacity to be likeable and influence one's behavior with success. It was discovered t hat men have more high average indices on the Mac-questionnaire then women as well as young Ss (till 25 years) then older Ss.
