Abstract
Titanium silicalite-1 (TS-1) has been synthesized using hexapropyl-1,8 -hexanediammonium (di-TPA) cations as the templating agent. Small crys tals similar to those of a standard TS-1 with a maximum content of abo ut 1.9 Ti/unit cell were obtained. Spectroscopic investigation has sho wn that the di-TPA species replaced two TPA cations and that the N-N c hain of the biquat was preferentially located in the straight channels of the framework. These zeolites showed activities and selectivities similar to those of a standard TS-1 in the hydroxylation of phenol wit h hydrogen peroxide.
