Abstract
The synthesis, IR spectra and crystal structures of three new compounds: (H 3O)(2) - [Ni(II)(H2O)(6)](2)[V10O28H6]. 4H(2)O, (1), (H3O)(2)[Co(II)(H2O)(6 )](2)[V10O28H6]. 4H(2)O, (2), and Na[H3N(CH2)(2)NH3](2.5)[V10O28]. 5H(2)O, (3), are described. The isomorphous structures of compounds (1) and (2) con tain discrete {V10O28} anionic clusters, (M(H2O)(6)}(2+) (M = Ni, Co) ions, and lattice water molecules. The crystal structure of compound (3) exhibit s a complex hydrogen bonded network involving oxo groups of {V10O28} cluste r and hydrogen atoms of the doubly protonated ethylenediammoniun ion, [H3N( CH2)(2)NH3](2+).
