The effect of the addition of 2-mercapto-1-methylimidazole (McMIm) on the c
opper corrosion behaviour in aerated 3% sodium chloride solution was studie
d by electrochemical polarization, impedance spectra, cyclic voltammetry me
thods and TR spectra. The inhibition efficiencies obtained from cathodic Ta
fel plots and polarization resistance methods were in good agreement. McMIm
additive was found to be an excellent inhibitor of Cn corrosion. Polarizat
ion measurements showed that the investigated molecule acts as a mixed-type
inhibitor.
