Seventeen young adults (16-24 year), admitted in an emergency room for suic
ide attempt have a psychological evaluation before discharge. They have cli
nical characteristic of adaptative disorder(DSM-IV). Self-injurious act is
brief and impulsive. They very shortly wish to die. Life events are describ
ed They all feel themselves neglected or socially rejected Violence, anger
are returned against them. Parents' presence in the emergency room seem res
tore intrafamilial communication. Difficulties for psychological follow-up
is partly due to affective reactions of families, context and psychopatholo
gical state, Follow-up should be necessary to prevent relapse or pathologic
al evolution.
