Abstract
Steady-state heat-transfers from pin-fin arrays have been investigated expe rimentally for staggered and in-line arrangements of the pin fins, which we re orthogonal to the mean airflow. For the applied conditions, the optimal spacings of the fins in the span-wise and streamwise directions have been d etermined. The dependences of the Nusselt number upon the Reynolds number a nd pin-fin pitch (in both directions) have been deduced. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
