Gi. Petrunin et Av. Soskov, ANALYTICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL-STUDY OF THE THERMAL REGIME OF SOUTH-CASPEAN SEDIMENTS, Geologia i geofizika, 38(3), 1997, pp. 675-685
A change in heat flow of the lithosphere in the sedimentary rocks of o
ceanic crust is considered in terms of conductive model for thermal co
nductivity. The entire cycle of the investigation is described, includ
ing the field works, experimental study of thermophysical properties o
f nonconsolidated sedimentary rocks and theoretical interpretation of
data. Results of complex studies are given in short: revealed features
of temperature behavior of thermophysical properties of the above-men
tioned rocks; experiment-based technique for reconstruction of thermal
parameters of water-saturated rocks according to data of study of dry
specimens. The main result of the work performed is the conclusion on
possible essential effect of the processes occurring in the oceanic s
edimentary unit (organics decomposition, gas- and oil formation, decay
and formation of gas hydrates) on the value of surface heat flow.
