A model for the selection of the different types of communications channels
for data transmission networks which form the basis of their technical equ
ipment is proposed. Unlike the classical models [1], the proposed approach
takes into account the discrete: nature of the problem and, therefore, does
not require construction of analytic relations between the desired charact
eristics of the communications channels and the output indicators of the ch
annel performance. An algorithm for approximate construction of the model t
hat is less "sensitive" to the dimension of the problem by comparison with
well-known exact methods of integer optimization is proposed, By means of t
he algorithm it is possible to estimate the: error of the feasible solution
