Abstract
In this paper, the effect of feed size and daughter drop size distributions on the steady-state drop size distribution in a continuous flow vessel is discussed. For identical sizes of feed drops, a new criterion has been prop osed to ensure the complete breakage of the feed drops giving rise to smoot h continuous drop size distributions. This has been predicted on the basis of two competing time scales, namely, breakage and residence times.
