Abstract
Pneumonia caused by Rhodococcus equi is often an important problem far hors e-breeding farms. Control and prevention programs require a systematic appr oach encompassing three aspects: treating affected foals, screening to dete ct early disease in asymptomatic foals, and preventing pneumonia caused by this organism. This article discusses general principles of and specific re commendations for control and prevention of R, equi-induced pneumonia.
