P. Durville et al., Comparative growth in rearing conditions of three species of juvenile Lutjanidae in Reunion Island, CYBIUM, 24(3), 2000, pp. 263-271
Three small species of Lutjanidae from Reunion Island, Lutjanus notatus, L.
kasmira et L bengalensis, have been reared from juveniles captured in the
sea. The initial average weight varied from 5 to 7 g depending on the speci
es. After a growth period of 196 days, it was 34 to 37 g. The results show
a higher growth rate for L kasmira and a better survival rate for L. bengal
ensis. Although the three species were robust, the food conversion ratio us
ing Biomar pellets (Ecolife 15.50 n degrees3) remained fairly high (compris
ed between 2.5 to 3.2).
