Molecularly imprinted polymer-coated sensors for sialic acid were developed
using a 9 MHz AT-cut quartz crystal microbalance (QCM). Recognition chips
of the sensors used in this study were prepared by coating the two types of
sialic acid-imprinted polymers with the use of p-vinylbenzeneboronic acid
and/or N,N,N-trimethylaminoethyl methacrylate onto QCM. Each piezoelectric
sensor showed a selective response to sialic acid and gave a linear relatio
nship between frequency shift and amount of sialic acid from 20 to 250 nmol
.
