Linear birefringence changes were measured with the rotating analyzer metho
d for the glycine phosphite crystal and its deuterated analogue in the vici
nity of ferroelectric phase transition. Continuous character of the phase t
ransition was assured. Power rule was found as fulfilled only in close vici
nity of T-c. Evident isotope effect was denoted: deuteration changes Te fro
m 225 to 324K.
