The design and analysis of a series-fed, low-loss, inverted microstrip arra
y antenna, operating at 1.413 GHz is presented, Thr array antenna is compos
ed of two subarrays consisting of an equal number of microstrip patches con
nected together through a series microstrip line. The subarrays are coaxial
ly fed 180 degrees out of phase, This approach ensures a symmetric radiatio
n pattern. The design approach for obtaining: a low sidelobe ratio and a lo
w loss microstrip array Is accomplished using the IE3D code. Experimental a
nd simulated data are presented and discussed.
