Abstract
Steam distilled essential oil from aerial parts of Xeranthemum annuum L. wa s analyzed by GC/MS. Ninety-seven compounds were identified.The essential o il was characterized by a high amount of monoterpene and sesquiterpene hydr ocarbons, of which beta -pinene (15.2%,) and beta -caryophyllene (8.6%) wer e the m:ajor constituents.
