Abstract
This paper reviews the concepts of population-based care and disease m anagement of major depression. Population-based care and disease manag ement strategies motivated by health care reform provide approaches fo r organizing health services to lower the prevalence of common medical and psychiatric illnesses in primary cave populations. We apply these concepts to the organization of services for patients with major depr ession. (C) 1997 by Elsevier Science Inc.
